Approach and scope

The Journal of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences of the Academic Unit of Legal and Social Sciences, JPBS-AULSS (Revista de Psicología y Ciencias del Comportamiento de la Unidad Académica de Ciencias Jurídicas y Sociales, RPCC-UACJS) is a scientific journal of scientific diffusion in areas related to the study of human behavior. It is published by the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas) through the Center for Research and Technological Development Applied to Behavior of the School of Law and Social Sciences. It is addressed to researchers, teachers and students of any institution, both national and international, and, in general, to anyone interested in contributing to the study of human behavior through quality scientific research. Contributions from any psychological approach and from sciences such as pedagogy, anthropology, sociology, economics, political science, communication sciences, cognitive sciences, neurosciences, history, law, social work, journalism, philosophy of science and areas related to the study of human behavior are welcome; nevertheless, works from areas such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, genetics, ecology and any other field of knowledge are also accepted as long as they make explicit and substantiate a relevant contribution to the study of human behavior.

The JPBS-AULSS (RPCC-UACJS) is published biannually (January-June and July-December) in printed and electronic form; it accepts contributions in both Spanish and English. It is divided into three sections:

  • Theoretical and empirical research. This section contains scientific articles resulting from conceptual analyses and proposals of theoretical and/or mathematical models on human behavior, as well as methodological developments, in addition to empirical research with both quantitative and qualitative approaches in strict adherence to scientific methodology.
  • Literature reviews. This section includes articles in which a meticulous review of the literature on a particular topic is carried out. Preference will be given to those articles that follow Systematic Review methodologies, as well as Meta -Analysis.
  • Reflection and opinion. This section contains essays that are the result of a deep critical analysis in which the aim is to point out problems related to human behavior, as well as to suggest possible answers or solutions to them.

Each paper is submitted to a meticulous evaluation process that includes editorial review, in which spelling, grammar, adherence to the Style Guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) and originality of the contribution are evaluated (this last task is carried out through the specialized software Ithenticate). If this first review is approved, the contributions will be reviewed by at least two judges who are experts in the subject area of the article in a double blind process.
